An invitation to process through pain, anger and other emotions Black women are rarely given the space to feel
“In a time of turmoil in the creativity industry, I hope this work inspires others to be able to use their creativity for healing — not only for themselves but for the community at large.” Irabor said of the exhibition.
As a young Trinidadian-Nigerian American Pan-African image maker, model, and curator, Irabor is used to making her own spaces, which include RAE STUDIOS, the creative agency that she founded, where she has worked with brands including Paramount Studios and Meta.
The current trend of installing art pieces in spaces outside of the traditional art world is happening everywhere from Saks Fifth Avenue’s NYC department store to your neighborhood coffee shops. A perfect opportunity for an artist like Irabor, whose artistic vision continues to move towards the unexpected and unseen.
“Sip & Sonder’s On View Program was created for Black and Brown artists to be seen not only in a space that reflects them, but also in an industry where they are usually overlooked” said Bhreeyana Miller, who leads the program.
